It’s a new year and Mariniello and Mariniello has
resolved to go “green” in 2008. Going “green” provides several
challenges, some specific to our firm, and some specific to our
profession. The days of producing mass documents are quickly changing.
Additionally, one of our biggest challenges arises from the fact that
the firm operates out of converted home that is over 100 years old!
Becoming environmentally friendly in an industry
that uses so much paper is truly a challenge as for years “originals” of
documents were considered the only source of proof of their existence.
Today, the digital age has made this somewhat less integral, and as
such, our firm is maintaining more of its own records and those of some
of our clients in digital format. Further, the use of electronic mail,
as a substitute for traditional mail, is more efficient in terms of
speed of communication and the environment.
“Paperless”, a buzz word of today’s
environmentally sensitive culture, is probably an unrealistic goal of a
law firm. Nevertheless, the steps we are taking will significantly
reduce the use of paper and ink at M&M.
